We live in Tropical North Queensland so spent a lot of time in the water year round, whether it’s at the beach, around the pool, at the waterpark or on the slip n slide in the backyard. So I was pretty darned excited when asked to test out Sunuva swimwear, a beautiful collection of clothing designed for little beach bums.

All About Sunuva
In a nutshell, Sunuva came about when two mums were tired of the poor quality swimwear so created their own! Sunuva is loved by many stylish celebrity bubs (and their mums) around the world and features swimsuits, playsuits, shorts, trousers, pajamas, accessories as well as a few things just for mum! The collection is inspired by global travel with gorgeous Mexican embroidery, cool Chinese dragons, African Savannah animals and stunning Moroccan tile prints. I selected the Girls Cupcake Rash Vest and Pink Jersey Frill Playsuit (for Miss-1), the Boys Jellyfish Rash Vest and matching Board Shorts (for Master 3) and the Coral Beach Bag (for me!).
Both my kids were stoked to try on the new gear and looked pretty good in them too (even Misterr-3 who insisted on wearing his backwards). And here is what we thought of the products:
Girls Cupcake Rash Vest/ Boys Jellyfish Rash Vest and Board Shorts
The logistics of the swimwear is perfect – long sleeves, 50 percent UPF fabric that blocks out 97% of the sun and contemporary prints and patterns. Once the kids were wet, sandy and ready to head home, I was surprised how easy it was to take the rash vest on and off and wash the sand off. They stretched over their heads nicely but didn’t stretch the material. The togs were practically dry after five minutes lying in the sun while I chased down my two nudey rudeys trying to get them dressed. And they looked so adorable! I even had strangers coming up to comment on how sweet my daughter looked and asking where I bought her outfit from.
Girls Pink Jersey Frill Playsuit
Miss 1 is certainly a little princess in this outfit! The fabric is so soft, slinky and lightweight that I wish it came in my size! My daughter is quite the squirmy wormy but it was easy to dress her in this and with adjustable straps and stretchy fabric, I know it will last her for many more months (maybe even years) to come!
Coral Beach Bag
Roomy, spacious and big enough to hold all of our beach junk. And that’s A LOT OF junk! I’m talking clothes, towels, blankets, lunch, food, nappies, wipes, beach toys, a collection of robots (because Master 3 won’t leave the house without them) – you name it, it was in there! Getting ready was as easy as throwing everything in the bag and the extra-large pocket in the front made a great space to store my phone, camera and car keys so they wouldn’t get wet or sandy. And the colour of the bag was a cool coral, perfectly suited for summer.
Pros - So what did I love? Here’s a breakdown:
- Cool and contemporary colours and prints
- High quality gorgeous fabrics and UV protection
- Stretches for easy removal and quick dry
- Soft and slinky design of the playsuit
- Perfectly intact after a day of sun and sand. And, after a few washes…so far so good (no fading, stretching or thinning)
Cons - What was I less than impressed with?
- Availability – The fact that Sunuva isn’t available at any of my local stores! However, they do have a great online shop and ship to Australia usually within three days. They are available in David Jones and in specialty Australian boutiques but none of the retailers in FNQ have jumped on the chance yet (come on Myer!)
- Cost – Rash vests start at £36 and Swim Shorts, Bikinis and Swimsuits are from £34 which is a little above my normal price range; however, the quality really does speak for the price and Sunuva tend to have sales year round.
And finally, would I recommend Sunuva to other mums? Most definitely, especially if you have water babies like me!
If you love warm summer days, cool ocean breezes and tropical holidays away with your family, then you are going to LOVE Sunuva!
Congratulations to the winner of our competition who will be spending $500 at Sunuva (and hopefully lots of time on the beach as well!)
